Jennifer J. Wheeler practices family law with an emphasis on special education and special needs concerns in the counties of Will, Kendall, Grundy, and DuPage. A former teacher and the mother of three sons on the autism spectrum, Ms. Wheeler has unique experience with parenting challenges related to children and adults with diagnostic concerns.

As an attorney, guardian ad litem, mediator, parenting coordinator, presenter, and educator, Ms. Wheeler is available to assist families as they navigate the allocation of parenting rights and responsibilities, and the implementation of their obligations. Ms. Wheeler is the appointed Chairperson for the Illinois Attorney General’s Select Committee on Special Education, and has been featured as an author in Chicago Parent Magazine. Additionally, Ms. Wheeler has written about special needs concerns and family law matters for the Illinois Bar Journal, the Newsletter for the Family Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association, and the DuPage County Bar Association Brief Magazine. She is featured as an “Autism Champion” in the first and second editions of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Autism Spectrum Disorders: What Every Parent Needs to Know, and is also featured in From the Periphery: Real-Life Stories of Disability.

Ms. Wheeler has presented on special needs matters and family law concerns at the 2020 Guardian ad Litem and Child Rep Training for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), as well as periodically for the DuPage County Bar Association, and the Will County Bar Association. In addition to receiving her Juris Doctor for the practice of law, Ms. Wheeler also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Bachelor of Science in Education.
